Anime Log is a place to keep a log of the anime you have watched. Mark a series as watched, score it out of ten, track which episode you are up to on the ones you have started, and keep a watchlist of everything you mean to get to next. It is free, it has no advertising, and you do not need an account to begin.

You can start without signing up

Most anime trackers ask you to register before you can touch anything. Anime Log does not. Open it, and the full catalogue is there to sort straight away, and your list is kept in your browser as you go. Making an account takes about ten seconds, and its only job is to back that list up and sync it between your phone and your computer. Nothing is lost when you sign up; whatever you have already sorted comes with you.

What it is for

• Remembering what you have seen. After a few hundred series, you stop being able to.
• Scoring. Every title takes a rating out of ten, and your averages are worked out for you.
• Knowing where you left off. Track the episode number on anything you are part-way through.
• A watchlist. Somewhere to put a recommendation so it is not forgotten by the weekend.
• Not interested. A list for the things you have decided against, so they stop resurfacing.

It is deliberately simple

The bigger anime list sites do a great deal: forums, social feeds, seasonal charts, recommendation engines, custom layouts. That is genuinely useful to some people and overwhelming to others. Anime Log does one job: keeping a record of what you have watched and what you mean to watch. If you have ever opened a tracker and closed it again because it wanted too much from you first, this is built for that.

Friends, if you want them

You can add friends by username and see what they are watching, so you know what to talk about. You decide exactly how much of your own list they can see. Your lists, your scores, your progress and your Not interested list are each a separate choice. You can also send a friend one recommendation at a time, and it tells you first if they have already seen it.

Your list stays yours

Your notes are private, always. Your individual scores are never published, only an anonymous median across everyone who has rated the same title, and only once at least three people have. You can make a public page of your list if you want to share it, but it is off unless you turn it on. You can export everything as a file at any time, and you can delete your account and everything in it yourself, without asking anyone.

Where the anime data comes from

Titles, cover art, episode counts and community scores come from AniList, which maintains the catalogue. Anime Log stores your own list against that catalogue; it does not host any video and is not a place to watch anime.
